Finding Something New!

One of the best things about being part of the wine industry is that you never stop learning.  No matter what your job is, or what role you play, or whatever, there’s always someone coming along with something new.  And that keeps it really interesting.  It’s also a lot of fun getting to bring new things to new people!

At a recent wine tasting I did over here in London it was all about Crémant de Bordeaux.  Walking into the evening I think they all knew they were likely to get a few cracking reds to try at some point of the night.  Then all of a sudden I handed out the bottles of bubbly.  From Bordeaux?  Am I hearing you right?

That’s the great thing about Bordeaux.  Where most wine drinkers have said “right, it’s red wine you’ve got to age, move on!”, I get to go chatting, tasting, and dispelling some myths.  And I get to do that with a host of bubbly, rosés, whites (from fresh and crisp to heady and oaked).  It‘s a fun job, and after one night we’re all looking at things a bit differently.

At least that was the clear message from the guys and girls from the wine tasting last week.  Hopefully JB’s sorting me out with a brand new shipment from the Châteaux to cover demand!

Cheers

Mike
