20h33 Tasting Nights

I’ve spent most of the day putting together the final touches for tomorrow night.  It’s my first 20h33 Tasting Night in the UK and I’ve no idea whether I’m nervous or excited?!

Of course I’m excited.  I get to do the two things I do best.  Well, more the two things that I LIKE to do best: drinking wine and talking about drinking wine!

The great thing for me about running a tasting night is that I get to spend an evening with clients who are all at different stages of their wine drinking lives.  Some are hardened wine-o’s who have sharpened their questions all week ready to trip me up on Thursday night.  Others will need some help working out how to open the wine bottle.  But that’s the great thing for me.

As someone who sells any product, especially a consumable like wine, you need to know who your client is and what they want.  What better way than to get everyone in a room, get the tasting glasses out, and just get talking about it all!

JB, over in France, has run them hugely successfully for months now.  He’s even got the joy of inviting along the actual winemakers to come and give the talks.  Anyone in France who is thinking about what to do of an evening could do a lot worse than head down to one of those.

For me though, I’m looking forward to kicking it all off this Thursday.  I’ve got a bit of game with the wine I reckon, and my job is to get that across in a way you’re all going to enjoy.  Best way of making sure that happens is to head down to one of the events and fire away with the questions!

Enjoy
