Team 20h33 Getting Down & Dirty at the Marathon Du Medoc
For the second year in row, 20h33 entered a team into the best marathon race in the world…well if you’re a wine lover that is!
The Marathon Du Medoc is a 42.195 kms with 20 wine tasting stations along the way, with lots of music, dancing, laughs, and even a cheeky chocolate ice lolly on the home straight!
The team of two Freddie Mercury’s, two David Bowie’s, a section of rock chicks, and JB’s “No Future” punk, we were all set for the main competition of the day. Forget the running, we wanted the costume prize! Didn’t happen, they gave it to a load of beer bottles in the end, despite the theme being “vinyl records”. The injustice!!!!!
The race itself was absolutely amazing for the first 20kms, horrible for the next 10kms, and then we’ve got no idea what happened in the last 10kms. The details got a bit hazy as the cramp set in. But the atmosphere was everything we’ve come to expect, with the wine flowing, the songs booming out from the bands en route, and even a bit of skinny dipping in some first growth ponds ;)
It was an absolute pleasure and privilege to once again be invted to run with the team at Pichon Baron. Christian, Ruth, Corinne, Patricia and Marine, you’re all superstars.
From the pre-race swifties, to saving some lunch for us late finishers at the end, you looked after us so well. We can’t thank you enough.
And to everyone else out there, thanks as ever for following us online and chatting away with us on social media. This is the best weekend in Bordeaux, and we’re so happy to share it with you all.
À l’année prochaine !
