Why Bordeaux Is Always Worth Another Look!

People the world round think they know Bordeaux.  They’ve got it up there in its comfy little pigeonhole where it can stay.  “Bordeaux is over-priced red wine.”  Done!  Move on….

In my time as a wine lover/drinker/sipper I’ve wrestled with the same idea about this most famous of wine regions.  It was always that stuff that your boss at work drank, or even worse (from my 2D point of view) invested in and never actually saw the bottle.  There was something in my head that made me think I can take it or leave it.

So fast-forward 18 months and here I am running a Bordeaux brokerage in the UK.  I’m full of energy and can’t wait to get you all involved!  So what happened?

Well it’s simple really.  I actually bothered to take a trip to Bordeaux and have a look at the place for myself.  And I just got it there and then; this is a wonderful place!

Of course Bordeaux is famous name in wine, but it’s also chock full of amazing food, a hotbed of Southern French culture, and the city itself is absolutely stunning to visit.  Oh and it’s not just one wine region, it’s a catch all term for 30+ AOCs that are strewn across the beautiful sun drenched terraces, hills, and river valleys.

The producers of even the entry-level wines have really stepped up their game in the last 10-15 years or so to combat the incoming value brands of the New World.  But associated them with such “value” wines is not doing them justice what-so-ever.

These guys and girls are producing solid quality, terroir specific whites, reds, and sparkling that deserve to grace any dinner table or party you fancy throwing.  And I’m having a go at trying them all!

Fancy joining me?
